Where Does Supermodel Store Config and Saves?
Supermodel keeps Config/Supermodel.ini for settings with NVRAM and Saves folders beside the exe: machine memory and save states respectively.
Last updated
Supermodel stores everything beside its own executable in three folders with distinct jobs. Config holds Supermodel.ini with global and per-game settings. NVRAM holds machine memory that persists like real arcade hardware. Saves holds numbered save-state slots.
Settings layer global first, then per-game sections by MAME ROM name, then command-line flags. That order means one ini serves the whole library with exceptions inline. NVRAM saves on every exit automatically, so high scores survive without touching states.
Where Supermodel stores this, by platform
[Supermodel-Folder]\Config\Supermodel.ini
Global plus per-game (MAME-ID sections) settings. Generate it with -config-inputs on fresh installs. Invalid lines are silently ignored, so verify parsing through error.log.
[Supermodel-Folder]/Config/Supermodel.ini
Same exe-relative trio on Linux builds. NVRAM writes on exit; states write to Saves on F5. Keep ROM sets in the ROMs folder or point the config at them.
Frequently asked questions
A game boots with broken settings but states are fine. What resets it?
Delete the game's NVRAM files (or press Alt-N in the emulator). NVRAM holds machine settings and high scores separately from save states, so stale machine state survives state wipes.
Save states do nothing. What is missing?
Create the Saves folder beside the executable. States only write when the folder exists; a missing folder fails silently, which is the classic fresh-install gotcha.
