Where Does Ferdi Store Servers and Settings?

Ferdi keeps services and sessions in the Electron userData folder per OS, the same layout Ferdium inherited. Migrate by copy.

Last updated

Ferdi follows Electron conventions with its data in the platform userData folder under its own name. Added services, settings, and login sessions all live in that one tree, with custom recipes in a recipes subfolder beside them.

Ferdi itself is unmaintained, and Ferdium continues the same layout. That makes migration a plain folder copy between the two userData folders. Quit both apps first and keep a spare copy until every service signs in on the new side.

Where Ferdi stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Ferdi

Services plus sessions and the recipes subfolder here. Copy into the Ferdium folder to migrate. Quit both apps fully before copying anything.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Ferdi

Same interior as Windows. Use Go to Folder in Finder, and quit both apps fully before copying anything in or out.

Linux
~/.config/Ferdi

Follows the XDG config home. Containerized installs can keep their own roots, so check those when this folder looks freshly empty.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate from Ferdi to Ferdium?

Quit both apps, then copy the contents of the Ferdi userData folder into the Ferdium one. Services and most sessions carry over. A few services ask for a fresh login as a security check. Prefer Ferdium going forward since Ferdi is unmaintained.

Where are Ferdi custom recipes stored?

In the recipes subfolder of the Ferdi data directory. Back it up alongside the rest when moving to Ferdium, since custom services travel the same way. Reinstalls wipe it.
