Where Does Notion Mail Store Cache and Offline Data?

Notion Mail Electron cache folders on desktop and why mail itself stays server side.

Last updated

Notion Mail follows the Notion desktop pattern: an Electron shell around the web app (mail.notion.so) with a local Chromium cache for speed. Message bodies, attachments and account state stay on Notion servers. What sits on disk is disposable: HTTP disk cache, V8 code cache, GPU and shader artifacts, plus login session files.

That split decides the fix order. Rendering glitches, stale threads or a blank pane mean clearing cache or using Reset App and Clear Local Data, then signing in again. Missing mail is never a local folder problem. Check filters, account sync and the web app first.

Where Notion Mail stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Notion Mail\Cache

Disposable Chromium cache beside Code Cache, GPUCache and logs. Clear via in-app Reset App and Clear Local Data (or Ctrl+Shift+R) rather than deleting the whole folder. Exact subfolder names shift with Electron versions.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Notion Mail

Same cache role as Windows, with Cache/Cache_Data and GPUCache inside. Use Go to Folder in Finder since Library is hidden. If this folder is absent you have the shared Notion shell: check ~/Library/Application Support/Notion instead.

Frequently asked questions

will clearing Notion Mail cache delete my emails

No. Mail, labels and drafts sync from Notion servers, so wiping Cache, Code Cache and GPUCache only forces a refetch. You will sign in again and threads reload. Local-only failures are rendering bugs, not data loss.

where are Notion Mail attachments saved

Nowhere automatically. Attachments download to your normal Downloads folder (or wherever you save them) when you click download. The Electron cache may hold previews, but the saved file you chose is the only copy that counts.
