Where Does Files by Google Keep Trash and Files?

Files by Google manages shared storage plus an in-app Trash with 30-day retention. What lives where is explained inside.

Last updated

Files by Google works on shared storage: Downloads, images, videos, documents, and anything other apps exported. Deleted items move to an in-app Trash kept for 30 days, not to a browsable folder.

There is no user path for the trash itself; recovery happens inside the app before expiry. For space, the Clean tab targets expendable files while leaving private app data alone. Large chat backups deserve their own check before purging.

Manages shared folders; Trash is in-app only with 30-day retention. Deleted items have no browsable path, so restore from inside the app.
