Where Does FireCapture Store Settings and Profiles?
FireCapture keeps settings and profiles beside its program folder or a user home folder by version, with captures in chosen roots. No installer exists.
Last updated
FireCapture ships without an installer and splits its live files by version. Newer builds with the home-storage checkbox use a user home tree for ini, profiles, logs and scripts. Older and unticked builds use the program folder instead.
Same-named folders in the idle tree trap the unwary, so timestamps decide. Captures point wherever settings aim them with no verified default. Bundle the debug zip from the live tree when asking for help.
Where FireCapture stores this, by platform
C:\Users\<user>\FireCapture
Live settings tree for checkbox-enabled modern builds with ini, profiles, logs and scripts. Program-folder twin goes idle in this mode. Confirm timestamps before archiving.
<program-dir>\FireCapture
Portable program folder holding the live tree on older and unticked installs. Newer checkbox builds idle here instead. Uninstalling means deleting the folder outright.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up FireCapture settings?
Copy FireCapture.ini with the profiles folder and scripts from whichever tree is live. Bundle the log zip the developer requests for debugging. Version checkbox decides whether program folder or home folder holds truth.
Which FireCapture folder is live?
Check the General checkbox for home-directory storage. Ticked builds use the user home tree while unticked and older builds use the program folder. Same-named folders in the idle tree mislead, so verify timestamps.
Where do FireCapture videos save?
Set the capture root in settings with optional auto-subfolders. Formats span video and still types by bit depth with per-capture logs optional. No fixed default folder is verified, so quote the setting rather than a path.
