Where Does SoundSwitch Store Profiles?

SoundSwitch files profiles and logs in one AppData folder, the only directory its backup needs.

Last updated

SoundSwitch keeps the smallest footprint of any audio tool here. One AppData folder holds the JSON configs plus a Logs subfolder, and the maintainer confirms nothing else exists anywhere.

Profiles map hotkeys to playback and recording device pairs in SoundSwitchConfiguration.json. IPC settings ride beside them. Migration means copying one folder with the app stopped, no registry spelunking required.

Where SoundSwitch stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\SoundSwitch

SoundSwitchConfiguration.json plus logs live here. The only folder the app uses, so one copy covers backup and migration.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up everything?

Copy the whole SoundSwitch folder with the app closed. Profiles, settings, and logs travel together. No registry or second location exists, which the maintainer confirms directly.

Can I run it portably?

No portable mode exists; configs stay rooted in AppData by design. Feature requests for marker file portability remain open. Roaming profiles sync the folder across domain machines instead.
