Where Does Firefox View Get Tabs and History?
Firefox View surfaces synced tabs and recent history from your Firefox profile and Sync account, with no separate store.
Last updated
Firefox View has no database of its own. Synced tabs come from the Firefox Sync account; recently closed tabs and history come from the local profile. The page renders both sources together.
That derived nature simplifies backup questions. Profiles plus Sync cover everything View displays. New installs show full history the moment login and profile restore complete.
Where Firefox View stores this, by platform
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile> (plus Sync account)
Reads profile history plus Sync account on demand. No separate store exists. Profiles plus Sync are the complete backup.
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile> (plus Sync account)
Same derived model on Mac under the Profiles tree. Synced tabs need login on both ends. Nothing extra migrates.
~/.mozilla/firefox/<profile> (plus Sync account)
Profiles under ~/.mozilla with the same behavior. Sync carries open tabs; local history stays per profile.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see other devices tabs in Firefox View?
Sign in to Sync on both installations. Open tabs propagate within a minute or so. Closed-tab lists live per profile, so each device shows its own recent history.
Does Firefox View store its own data?
No. View reads the local profile plus Sync data on demand. Clearing profile data removes local entries; synced entries return with the account. There is nothing extra to back up.
