Where Are The First Berserker: Khazan Save Files Located?
Khazan save folder on PC, why saves sit inside a numbered Steam ID folder, and how the .bak backups work.
Last updated
Khazan follows the standard Unreal Engine layout: a folder named The First Berserker Khazan in Local AppData, with saves under Saved/SaveGames. One extra level trips people up. Inside SaveGames sits a folder named with your 64-bit Steam ID, and the actual save files live in there.
Each slot keeps a pair of files, one for the player state and one for the slot, plus .bak copies of each. The game rotates those backups itself, so a corrupted save often has a working fallback sitting right beside it.
Where The First Berserker: Khazan stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\The First Berserker Khazan\Saved\SaveGames
Open the numbered Steam ID folder inside to find SaveGame files. Turn off Steam Cloud before restoring older files or the cloud copy will overwrite them.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2680010/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/The First Berserker Khazan/Saved/SaveGames
Proton prefix for Steam Deck and Linux desktops, app ID 2680010. The same Steam ID subfolder structure applies inside.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there a folder of random numbers in my Khazan saves?
That number is your 64-bit Steam ID. Khazan files saves per account, so shared PCs keep each player's progress separate. Copy that whole numbered folder when migrating.
Can I recover a corrupted Khazan save?
Often yes. Each slot has .bak backup files next to the live ones. With Steam Cloud off, rename the newest .bak pair to replace the broken files, then launch and test.
