Where Does Fisher Store Plugins?
Fisher lists plugins in ~/.config/fish/fish_plugins with checkouts in the functions and conf.d folders.
Last updated
Fisher tracks desired plugins in a plain text fish_plugins file in the fish config folder. Each line names one plugin source for install and update. The manager checks them out into functions and conf.d beside your own files.
Your custom functions share those folders with managed ones. Removing a line and updating prunes the plugin cleanly. Keep fish_plugins in dotfiles to reproduce the shell anywhere.
Where Fisher stores this, by platform
~/.config/fish/fish_plugins
One plugin per line tracking desired state. Checkouts land in functions and conf.d. Update pulls every listed source.
~/.config/fish/fish_plugins
Same XDG layout on Mac regardless of install method. Homebrew fish reads the same folder. Prune by editing the list.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sync Fisher plugins across machines?
Commit fish_plugins with your dotfiles and run fisher update on the new machine. Checkouts rebuild from the list. Custom functions travel in the same folders.
Where did a Fisher plugin install its files?
Into functions and conf.d under ~/.config/fish with possible completions beside them. Managed and personal files mix there. The list file stays the source of truth.
