Where Does Fuse Store Config?
Fuse saves options to .fuserc in the home directory on Unix (XDG config on newer builds), or fuse.cfg beside the binary on Windows.
Last updated
Fuse keeps its options in a small XML file in the home directory, and the location depends on build age. Classic builds use .fuserc directly in $HOME. Current builds prefer the XDG config directory but keep reading the legacy file, so upgrades never strand your settings.
The file only appears after an explicit save. Fuse does not write options continuously; the Options Save command (or auto-save when enabled) creates it. That surprises people hunting a file that was never generated yet.
Where Fuse stores this, by platform
~/.fuserc
XML options file written by Options Save. Newer builds prefer the XDG config directory while keeping this as fallback. Enable auto-save to stop repeating the manual step.
[Fuse-Folder]\fuse.cfg
The Windows equivalent beside the program files, same role and format. Options Save creates it; without that step there is no file to find.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make Fuse remember settings?
Use Options then Save in the menu. That writes the current options to the config file properly. Hand-editing the XML works, but the menu validates entries the file never checks.
There is no .fuserc on my fresh install. Why?
Newer builds moved to the XDG config directory while still reading the legacy file as fallback. Check the XDG spot first on current installs; the home-dotfile belongs to older ones.
