Where Does Goguma Store Accounts?

Goguma IRC accounts and logs on desktop OSes, YAML config plus chat history.

Last updated

Goguma (Senpai IRC) keeps networks and identities in a YAML config under the user config home. Logs go where the config points, off by default.

Copy the YAML with the client closed. Secrets inside deserve tight permissions. Soju bouncer users pair this with server side history for catch up.

Where Goguma stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/goguma/goguma.yaml

Networks and SASL secrets live here. Copy with Goguma closed. Logs follow the directory set inside the file.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/goguma/goguma.yaml

Same YAML layout on macOS. Keep permissions at 600 since secrets sit inside. Pair with Soju for persistent history.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Goguma?

Copy goguma.yaml with the client closed. That keeps networks, nicknames and SASL secrets. Logs travel separately when enabled.

Where are Goguma chat logs?

Point the log directory in config at a synced folder and enable per network logs. History stays plain text. Rotate old logs when disk fills.
