Where Does Gray Zone Warfare Store Settings on PC?

Gray Zone Warfare keeps progress on its servers, not your PC. Your local files are just settings in a folder called GZW.

Last updated

There is no local save file to back up in Gray Zone Warfare. It is an online game, so your character and stash live on the servers. Forum threads asking for a save folder all end with the same answer.

What you do have locally is the settings folder. Graphics, keybinds and GameUserSettings.ini sit under LocalAppData in a folder named GZW. Copy that folder to migrate settings between machines.

Where Gray Zone Warfare stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\GZW\Saved\Config\WindowsClient

GameUserSettings.ini and related config files live here. Back up this folder before reinstalling if you have tuned graphics or binds.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2479810/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/GZW/Saved/Config/WindowsClient

Same folder mirrored inside the Proton prefix for app ID 2479810. The numeric ID can differ per install, so confirm it under compatdata if the path does not resolve.

Frequently asked questions

where is the Gray Zone Warfare save file?

There isn't one on your PC. Progress is stored server side, which is also why test branch progress never carries back to live. Only settings and config files exist locally.

how do i move my Gray Zone Warfare settings to a new pc?

Copy the WindowsClient config folder above to the same path on the new machine. Your character, stash and tasks follow your account automatically.
