Where Does Groupy Store Settings and Saved Groups?
Groupy keeps settings in the registry with saved tab groups as files in AppData and the Start Menu.
Last updated
Groupy splits state three ways. Toggles and behavior live in the registry under the Stardock key. Saved tab groups live as files in two Saved Groups folders. Nothing syncs between machines.
That split decides the backup. Registry export covers preferences; folder copies cover groups. Move both for a faithful restore, since neither references the other.
Where Groupy stores this, by platform
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Groupy
All Groupy toggles branch from this key. Saved groups live separately as .groupy files in AppData plus Start Menu Saved Groups folders.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Groupy to a new PC?
Export the vendor registry key and copy the Saved Groups folders to the new PC. Settings plus .groupy files restore tabs together. Reinstall Groupy first so paths exist.
Where are saved Groupy tab groups?
They live as files in the two Saved Groups folders, one under Start Menu and one under AppData. Copy both folders to migrate groups without touching the registry.
