Where Does Halide Save Photos?

Halide saves RAW plus processed JPG or HEIC pairs straight to the iPhone Photos library, with no separate Halide folder.

Last updated

Halide writes to Apple Photos, not to its own gallery. Every shutter press lands in the Camera Roll as either a processed JPG/HEIC, a ProRAW, or a RAW plus Process Zero pair stored as one item. Apps that understand RAW see the raw data. Others fall back to the full resolution processed image.

That keeps backup simple. iCloud Photos carries Halide shots like any iPhone photo. The Halide settings that matter are capture format and resolution (12 versus 48 MP on Pro phones). Photo Lab edits apply Looks without moving the file anywhere new.

Process Zero pairs appear as a single item with RAW attached. Import external RAWs (DNG, NEF, CR3, ARW, RAF) into Halide for Lab edits. RAW files run about 10 MB versus under 3 MB for JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Does Halide keep photos outside Apple Photos?

No. Captures go to the system Photos library immediately. Delete from Photos and the Halide edit has nothing to attach to, so cull inside Photos rather than hunting for a Halide folder.

Why do my Halide RAW photos look flat at first?

RAW holds sensor data without Apple processing applied. Process Zero builds a minimal film like render beside it. Switch to Apple Processing or ProRAW when you want punchy output straight from the shutter.
