Where Are Halo: Campaign Evolved Save Files Located?

The Unreal Engine 5 remake stores saves under a Meteorite folder in Local AppData, not under any Halo name.

Last updated

Halo: Campaign Evolved runs under the project name Meteorite, so nothing on disk says Halo. Steam saves live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Meteorite\Saved\SaveGames with Progress.sav tracking mission completion, while configs sit in Saved\Config\Windows.

The Xbox app version diverges into Microsoft's protected wgs containers instead. Copying Steam saves between PCs works, but cross store transfers do not. A community mission tracker reads Progress.sav directly if you want to verify completion outside the game.

Where Halo: Campaign Evolved stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Meteorite\Saved\SaveGames

Progress.sav plus per profile files. Config in Saved\Config\Windows as GameUserSettings.ini. Xbox app builds use the wgs container system instead, which resists manual copying.

Linux
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2806050/pfx/.../Meteorite/Saved/SaveGames

Same Meteorite tree inside the Proton prefix for app id 2806050. Full path runs through drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local. Steam Cloud covers the Steam build.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I find a Halo folder in AppData?

The remake's project name is Meteorite, so look for that instead. Saves sit in Meteorite Saved SaveGames. The Xbox app version hides further inside wgs containers rather than plain folders.

How do I back up Halo: Campaign Evolved saves?

Copy the whole Meteorite Saved folder with the game closed. Restore it the same way with cloud sync paused. A 100 percent Progress.sav drops straight into SaveGames on the Steam build.
