Where Does Haraka Store Config on Linux?
Haraka SMTP config, plugins and logs on Linux for self hosted mail servers.
Last updated
Haraka keeps plugin config in a config folder inside the install or under /etc/haraka on packaged setups. Logs go to syslog or a log dir depending on init.
Queues are transient by design. Backing up means copying config plus TLS certs. Mail store itself lives wherever the queue plugin points, often a separate Maildir or backend.
Where Haraka stores this, by platform
/etc/haraka/
Packaged config home (smtp.ini, plugins, access lists). Source installs use [InstallDir]/config/ instead. Certs often sit beside config or in /etc/ssl. Check process args if paths differ.
Frequently asked questions
Where is smtp.ini for Haraka?
Inside the config folder above. That file sets listeners and spool behavior. Restart Haraka after edits and watch logs for plugin load errors.
Where are Haraka logs?
Often syslog or journald for packaged installs, or log files under the install dir for source runs. Queue contents are temporary; config plus certs are the files to back up.
