Where Does Headphones Store Its Config?
Headphones keeps its config and database in a /config volume. Music and downloads mount separately and need no backup.
Last updated
Headphones follows the classic *arr volume split. The /config mount holds config.ini (indexers, download clients, quality and post-processing settings) plus the library metadata database. Music lives under a separate /music mount and downloads under /downloads, both outside the backup scope.
That split keeps restores small. Copy the host folder behind /config and point a fresh container at it with the same music and download mounts. PUID and PGID should match your media ownership or scans hit permission errors. The web UI runs on port 8181 by default across images.
Where Headphones stores this, by platform
/config (Docker volume)
config.ini plus the metadata database. Bind to a host folder with matching PUID/PGID. /music and /downloads mount beside it and hold the actual library, not app state.
Frequently asked questions
how do i migrate headphones to a new server
Copy the whole mapped /config folder with the container stopped. It holds config.ini plus the metadata database. Remount music and downloads at the same container paths; they are your library, not Headphones state.
is headphones still maintained
Long gaps, but the layout never changed. LinuxServer and community images still mount /config the same way. Pin a maintained image tag and keep the volume layout; the config format carries across.
