Hell Is Us saves automatically into a HellIsUs folder in local AppData, with no manual save option in the menus. The SaveGames directory below Saved holds the run, and players back it up by copying files out and renaming them back later.
Config lives next door under HellIsUs/Saved/Config/Windows/GameUserSettings.ini. On Linux the game runs through Proton, so the same Windows style path appears inside its compatdata prefix.

Autosaves only. To keep a restore point, close the game, copy the newest files to a Backup folder, and rename them back if you need to roll back.

Frequently asked questions
Does Hell Is Us have manual saves?
No. It only writes autosaves as you progress. The community workaround is copying SaveGames files aside by date and swapping them back when you want an earlier state.
Where is the graphics settings file?
At HellIsUs/Saved/Config/Windows/GameUserSettings.ini. Resetting that file fixes bad video settings without touching your campaign progress.
