Where Does Hidamari Store Its Config?
Hidamari keeps its settings in config.json under ~/.config/hidamari, loaded verbosely on every start.
Last updated
Hidamari stores playback mode, volume, monitor mapping and stream URLs in config.json inside ~/.config/hidamari. Startup logs print the loaded path, which settles every where-is-my-config debate instantly.
Flatpak installs remap the home, so reach the file through the sandbox data dir instead of the literal path. Either way the schema stays the same JSON the logs echo.
Where Hidamari stores this, by platform
~/.config/hidamari/config.json
Mode, volume, monitors, URLs. Startup logs confirm the loaded path; --reset restores defaults. Flatpak users look inside the sandbox data dir.
Frequently asked questions
Hidamari misbehaves after an update. How do I reset it?
Delete ~/.config/hidamari/config.json (or run with --reset). The app regenerates defaults on next launch, which clears wedged playback modes faster than reinstalling.
Can Hidamari run without its window?
Pass --background to skip the window and run wallpaper only. Autostart entries use this so login resumes video without opening the GUI.
