Azote is a working library manager, not a one-shot setter. A JSON runtime file holds display choices. A share library keeps settings pickle, logs, thumbnails and per-compositor backgrounds.
Session files in home apply the current wallpaper per compositor. X11 goes through feh while Wayland compositors get their own variants. Legacy paths auto migrate.

What about the old home folder copy?
Legacy home folder installs migrate automatically to XDG. Old copies linger afterward, so remove them once the new tree works. The runtime JSON holds thumb and column choices.
