Where Does Holdem Manager Store Hand Databases?
Where Holdem Manager 3 keeps its single-file hand databases.
Last updated
Holdem Manager 3 keeps hands in a single-file database under Documents\Holdem Manager 3\Databases by default. No PostgreSQL install needed, unlike its predecessor and rivals.
The path shifts when OneDrive owns Documents, landing at C:\HM3files\Databases on affected machines. Create and open databases from the File menu, and never point the live file at cloud synced folders.
Where Holdem Manager stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Holdem Manager 3\Databases\
Single-file hand databases. OneDrive machines use C:\HM3files\Databases instead. Move or copy only while HM3 is closed. Keep off cloud synced folders and slow externals.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up Holdem Manager?
Use Tools, Backup Database for the hands plus configuration in one zip. The single file design means plain copies work too, but only while HM3 is fully closed.
Where should the HM3 database live?
Keep it on a fast local disk outside Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive. Live syncing an open database corrupts it, which support pages warn about in bold. OneDrive machines default to a C:\HM3files path instead.
