Where Do iPhone Screen Recordings Go?
iPhone screen recordings land in the Photos app with everything else, grouped under a Screen Recordings album.
Last updated
Starting a recording from Control Center gives no save dialog and no folder choice. When you stop, iOS drops the video into the Photos library like any camera clip, newest first in Recents.
Photos also files it under Albums > Media Types > Screen Recordings, which is the quick way to gather them all. Recordings capture no microphone audio unless you long press the Control Center button and switch the microphone on before starting.
Where iOS stores this, by platform
Photos > Albums > Media Types > Screen Recordings
The same clips appear in Library > Recents. Share or Save to Files from the share sheet to move one out of Photos.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my screen recording have no sound?
Microphone capture defaults to off. Long press the record button in Control Center, tap the Microphone button to turn it red, then start. System audio records regardless.
How do I add the record button to Control Center?
Open Settings > Control Center and add Screen Recording to the included controls. The button then toggles recording with a tap and shows a red indicator while active.
