Where Are Isonzo Save Files Located?

Isonzo splits saves and settings three ways: LocalLow files, per-ID folders, and registry keys. Back up all three.

Last updated

Isonzo spreads state across files and the registry with no clean logic. Progress sits in SaveData_User.dat inside a per-Steam-ID folder. Some settings sit beside it, others hide in HKCU. Guides that cover one side frustrate.

The EmergencyBackups folder is the safety net. The game writes dated copies it can fall back on. Linux and Mac move the whole tree to their own Unity locations with the same internal layout.

Where Isonzo stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\WW1 Game Series\Isonzo\Steam\<steamid64>

Progress and most settings per Steam ID. EmergencyBackups subfolder holds restore points. Same tree shape on all desktop OSes.

Windows
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WW1 Game Series\Isonzo

Remaining settings including sensitivity. Export before reinstalls. File backups alone miss these.

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/WW1 Game Series/Isonzo

Unity default config root on Linux. Same per-ID layout inside.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/WW1 Game Series/Isonzo

Same internal layout as Windows and Linux. Saves transfer across OSes by copying the ID folder.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Isonzo fully?

Copy the LocalLow WW1 Game Series tree plus export HKCU\Software\WW1 Game Series. Saves need the per-ID folder, settings need the registry. One without the other restores half.

How do I restore a corrupted Isonzo save?

Close the game, delete SaveData_User.dat and its .backup, then copy an EmergencyBackup file into its place renamed to SaveData_User.dat. The folder holds dated emergency copies.

Where is mouse sensitivity stored?

Mouse sensitivity is the famous one. Open regedit at the Isonzo key and tune there. File-only guides miss half the settings for this game.
