Where Is the JankyBorders Config File?

JankyBorders bordersrc config file location and reload behavior on macOS.

Last updated

JankyBorders reads one executable script as its config. Options go in an array at the top, then a borders call applies them. The layout mirrors Yabai and SketchyBar companions.

The file lives under ~/.config/borders. It runs only in specific startup modes. Brew and manual launches both work once the no-args rule is respected.

Where JankyBorders stores this, by platform

macOS
~/.config/borders/bordersrc

Executable config script with an options array. Read when borders starts with no args or through brew services. See man borders for valid keys. Companion to SketchyBar and Yabai setups.

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply bordersrc changes?

Edit ~/.config/borders/bordersrc and restart the borders process, or start it with no args so it reads the file. Brew services users restart the borders service instead. Check man borders for option names.

Why is my bordersrc ignored?

The file is only read when borders starts argument free. Launching with inline options skips it. Either move options into the file or stop passing args at startup.
