Where Does Kamoso Save Photos and Videos?

Kamoso photo and video save folders plus its config file on Linux.

Last updated

Kamoso saves captures straight into the XDG media folders. Photos land in Pictures with picture timestamps. Videos land in Videos with video timestamps in MKV.

App settings live in kamosorc. The captures directory itself is a setting there, so a reset moves saves back to defaults. Check the config before hunting for missing files.

Where Kamoso stores this, by platform

Linux
~/Pictures

Timestamped JPG photos in Pictures, MKV videos in Videos. Captures directory is changeable in Settings. App config in ~/.config/kamosorc beside it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change where captures save?

Open Settings and change the Captures directory. Photos default under Pictures, videos under Videos. The choice persists in kamosorc, so it survives restarts.

How do I back up Kamoso settings?

Copy kamosorc out of ~/.config with the app closed. Media files are plain timestamped JPG and MKV in the folders above, so back those up separately like any photos.
