Where Does KDiff3 Store Settings?

KDiff3 keeps the kdiff3rc settings file in ~/.config on Linux and in AppData on Windows.

Last updated

KDiff3 writes its options to a kdiff3rc file: diff colors, editor commands, directory filters, and merge behavior. Linux builds use ~/.config/kdiff3rc, Windows builds keep it in the AppData tree. Portable builds sit beside the exe.

Copy the file with KDiff3 closed to migrate. Recent file lists travel inside the same file. Version upgrades occasionally add keys, so keep a backup before first launch of a new release.
