Where Does Keil MDK Store Projects and Settings?

Keil keeps projects where you create them, with packs in the install-adjacent ARM folder and settings in AppData.

Last updated

Keil MDK spreads itself across three places: projects wherever you created them, software packs beside the install directory, and personal settings in AppData. Each part backs up differently.

Pack management is the disk hog. Device support packs accumulate per family and reinstall cleanly from the pack installer, so they are the first thing to prune when space runs short.

Where Keil MDK stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Keil_v5\ARM\PACK

Software packs per device family. User settings sit in %APPDATA%\Keil. Projects stay in their own folders with uvprojx files. Copy projects plus AppData settings to migrate.

Frequently asked questions

how do i back up keil projects

Copy the project folders whole, including uvprojx and output objects if rebuilds must be avoided. Settings travel separately from AppData Keil.

where are keil device packs stored

In the PACK folder beside the ARM toolchain install. Remove unused family packs to reclaim space; the pack installer fetches them again on demand.
