Where Does Liferea Store Feeds and Cache on Linux?

Liferea keeps its database in ~/.config/liferea on modern builds, with OPML for portable moves.

Last updated

Modern Liferea builds store the feed database as liferea.db under ~/.config/liferea. Very old installs used ~/.liferea_1.x trees instead. Cache and enclosure downloads sit beside the database.

OPML export carries subscriptions to any reader. The database adds read state and flagged items that OPML drops. Sync backends like TinyTinyRSS keep their own server copies. Copy the config folder with Liferea closed, then check feed counts after restore.

liferea.db plus cache. Legacy installs may still use ~/.liferea_1.12 or similar. Copy the active tree only, with the app closed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Liferea fully?

Copy ~/.config/liferea and export OPML as a spare. Restore the folder before launch on the new machine. Old version trees need upgrading first.

Where are Liferea enclosures saved?

Under the cache area of the same config tree, or a custom folder set in preferences. Point the new install at the same path to keep links working.
