Where Does NewsFlash Store Feeds and Database on Linux?

NewsFlash keeps its SQLite database under ~/.local/share/newsflash, with prefs in ~/.config.

Last updated

NewsFlash centers on one SQLite file under ~/.local/share/newsflash holding feeds, articles, and read state. Preferences sit apart in ~/.config. Sync service passwords stay in the login keyring on GNOME, so file copies alone may ask for credentials again. Fever and Miniflux accounts sync through the network, local accounts live only in that database.

Export OPML for the portable layer. The database file carries history and tags that OPML drops. Copy it with NewsFlash closed, then verify feed counts on launch.

Where NewsFlash stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.local/share/newsflash

SQLite database plus thumbnails. Flatpak equivalent is ~/.var/app/com.gitlab.newsflash/data/newsflash. Copy while closed.

Linux
~/.config/newsflash

Preferences and service logins. Small folder. Include it so accounts reconnect without retyping on the new machine.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up NewsFlash fully?

Copy the database folder plus the config folder, and export OPML as a spare. Restore both trees before first launch on the new host.

Where is my NewsFlash OPML?

Export it from settings to a file you choose. Imports accept standard OPML anywhere. History still needs the database copy.
