Where Are Lightyear Frontier Save Files Located?

Lightyear Frontier saves in AppData Local under a folder named FarMech, its prototype name. Windows and Proton paths plus the backup system.

Last updated

Lightyear Frontier stores saves in the standard Unreal location, but under a folder named FarMech instead of the game title. FarMech was the prototype name, and it stuck. Anyone searching AppData for Lightyear will come up empty.

The game added its own safety net on top: each world keeps the main save plus up to three automatic backups taken at the start of recent in game days. For a real backup or a move to a new PC, copy the SaveGames folder below. Multiplayer guests should back up too: the host holds the world while guests keep only their own progress.

Where Lightyear Frontier stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\FarMech\Saved\SaveGames

Unreal SaveGames layout. Config lives beside it in FarMech\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor. Paste %LOCALAPPDATA% into the Explorer bar to jump straight there.

Linux
<SteamLibrary>/steamapps/compatdata/1677110/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/FarMech/Saved/SaveGames

Windows layout mirrored inside the Proton prefix for app ID 1677110. Your library may sit under ~/.steam/steam or a custom path instead.
