Where Does Lively Wallpaper Store Its Library?

Lively keeps installed wallpapers in a Library folder under app data, movable from settings. Installer, Store and portable layouts.

Last updated

Lively Wallpaper installs every wallpaper into a Library folder: each gets a subfolder with its LivelyInfo.json project file and media. Dropped .zip files extract there automatically (then the zip can go). Dragged loose files only link in place and show a disk badge, so zip them via right-click > Create Lively.zip to make them portable.

Three install flavors move the root. Classic installer uses LocalAppData, the Store build nests under Packages, and portable keeps everything beside the exe. Relocate from settings with Move existing wallpapers checked, or the library splits across drives and confusion follows.

Where Lively Wallpaper stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lively Wallpaper\Library

Installed wallpapers in wallpapers subfolders here. Store builds nest under Packages\12030rocksdanister...\LocalCache\Local. Portable builds keep the tree beside the exe instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move the Lively Wallpaper library?

Change the wallpaper directory in Lively settings with Move existing wallpapers checked, so files transfer in one step. Moving folders by hand orphans the library: point settings back first, then move through the app.

Can I delete a Lively .zip after installing it?

Yes for .zip drops: Lively extracts them into the Library and the archive is redundant. Keep zips only as backups. For loose-file drops, make a Lively.zip first or the wallpaper depends on the original path.
