Where Does Lumion Store Projects and Models?
Lumion keeps imported models and support files in Documents\Lumion, while .LS project files go where you save them. Moving and backup.
Last updated
Lumion splits data by kind. Imported models, custom materials, groups and recent-file lists live in the Lumion-documents folder (Documents\Lumion, versioned per release before 2023). Your actual scenes are .LS project files saved anywhere you choose, each packaging its content inside.
QuickSaves stash in Documents\Lumion\Projects and get replaced as you open other projects, so don't treat them as backups. Relocate the whole Lumion-documents folder in settings on 2023.1.2 and newer, copying old contents over by hand. Keep it on a local drive: network and cloud-synced folders corrupt these files.
Where Lumion stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Lumion
Library, Materials, Projects and Recent inside; pre-2023 releases append the version (Lumion 12.0). Move it via Lumion settings on 2023.1.2+, then manually copy the old contents across.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Lumion projects to a new PC?
Copy the .LS project files anywhere, plus the Library, GroupLibrary, Materials/Custom and Recent folders from Documents\Lumion into the matching fresh install. Movie-from-file MP4 clips travel separately since they stay in their original folders.
Where are Lumion QuickSaves stored?
In Documents\Lumion\Projects. They survive closing Lumion but get overwritten when you open other projects. Save a named .LS file for anything worth keeping.
