Where Do Meta Quest Screenshots and Recordings Go?

Quest stores screenshots and clips in Oculus folders on shared storage, reachable over USB or through the mobile app gallery.

Last updated

Quest captures live on the headset first. Screenshots go to an Oculus Screenshots folder on shared storage, video clips to a VideoShots sibling. The mobile app mirrors them when sync is enabled.

Sync is the part people misread. It uploads copies for viewing, but the headset keeps the originals until you delete them. Storage warnings almost always trace back to months of clips nobody moved. Copy over USB, confirm the copies open on the PC, then delete from the headset.

Where Meta Quest stores this, by platform

Android
/sdcard/Oculus/Screenshots

Press the buttons for a screenshot and it lands here as a PNG. Reach it over USB file transfer or through Files on the headset. Enable sync in the mobile app for automatic copies.

Android
/sdcard/Oculus/VideoShots

Recorded clips save here as MP4. Clips run large, so this folder dominates storage warnings. Move finished clips to a PC before deleting them from the headset.

Frequently asked questions

How do I copy Quest screenshots to my PC?

Plug the headset into a PC with a USB cable, accept the file access prompt inside the headset, and open the Quest in Explorer or Finder. The Oculus folder holds Screenshots and VideoShots side by side.

My headset storage is full. Can I delete captures safely?

Use the phone app gallery or copy over USB first. Deleting from inside the headset removes the only copy unless sync was on and finished uploading before you tapped delete.
