Where Does the Min Browser Store Data?

Min keeps everything in one user data folder (sessionRestore.json, bookmarks, userscripts) at the per-OS Electron data location.

Last updated

Min concentrates its entire profile in the standard Electron user-data folder, which keeps backup simple and corruption total. Open tabs live in sessionRestore.json, bookmarks export to HTML on demand, and userscripts sit in their own subfolder. History uses LevelDB beside them.

That single-folder design is both the feature and the hazard. Copying it migrates everything at once, but any sync tool touching it mid-write can corrupt the database across its many files. Close Min before copying, and exclude the folder from live cloud sync.

Where Min stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Min

sessionRestore.json for tabs, IndexedDB history, userscripts folder, and settings. Back up with Min closed. Older installs may use a lowercase min folder name.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Min

Same single-folder profile on macOS. Corrupt sessions spawn sessionRestoreBackup files here, which are the first place to look after tab loss.

Linux
~/.config/Min

Same layout under XDG config home. Cache folders (Cache, Code Cache, Partitions) sit inside the profile rather than the system cache dir, so the folder is bigger than expected.

Frequently asked questions

Min lost my open tabs. Can I recover them?

Look for sessionRestoreBackup files in the data folder. Min writes one when it detects a corrupt session, so the previous tab set often survives beside the broken sessionRestore.json.

Can I back up Min by copying a folder?

Yes, with Min closed. The whole profile (history database, tabs, settings, userscripts) lives in that one folder. LevelDB splits history across files, so copy everything rather than cherry-picking.
