Where Are Minecraft Bedrock Edition Save Files Located?
Bedrock Edition save locations for Windows, Android and iOS: the com.mojang folder, the new GDK path on Windows, and Android storage limits.
Last updated
Bedrock Edition keeps everything that matters, worlds, resource packs, behavior packs, inside one folder called com.mojang. What changes is where that folder sits. Version 1.21.120 moved it on Windows, when the game stopped being a Store package and became a GDK app, and on Android the folder now sits in app storage that other apps can no longer freely browse.
The paths below cover current Windows, Android and iOS builds. There is no native macOS version of Bedrock, so there is nothing to list for it.
Where Minecraft (Bedrock Edition) stores this, by platform
%appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock\Users\[user ID]\games\com.mojang
Current builds (1.21.120 and later). [user ID] is a number per signed-in profile, with a "shared" folder covering signed-out players; worlds are in the minecraftWorlds subfolder. Preview uses %appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock Preview\Users\[user ID]\games\com.mojang. Older installs still use %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang, and the old Preview package was Microsoft.MinecraftWindowsBeta_8wekyb3d8bbwe.
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang
Only when Settings > Storage > File Storage Location is set to External. The alternative, Application, stores data in /data/user/0/com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang, which needs root to read. On Android 11 and later, scoped storage hides Android/data from normal file managers, so you need a file manager that can open the Android/data tree through the system picker, or copy the world out as a .mcworld file.
On My iPhone/Minecraft/games/com.mojang
Open the Files app, tap On My iPhone (or On My iPad), then Minecraft > games > com.mojang. Worlds sit in the minecraftWorlds folder. The folder only appears once the game has written data, and it is reachable without any workarounds, which makes iOS the easiest platform to back up by hand.
Frequently asked questions
why can't i find minecraft bedrock worlds on my pc
You are probably looking at the old UWP path. Since build 1.21.120 the Windows version is a GDK app, so saves moved to %appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock\Users\[user ID]\games\com.mojang. If that folder is empty, your install is still on the older package path under %localappdata%\Packages.
how do i back up a minecraft bedrock world on android
Set File Storage Location to External first, then reach Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds with a file manager that can open that tree, zip the world folder, and rename the archive to .mcworld. Tapping the .mcworld file imports it again.
where are minecraft bedrock worlds stored on iphone
In the Files app under On My iPhone > Minecraft > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds. Each world is a folder containing level.dat, a world_icon.jpg and the rest. Copy a world folder somewhere else to back it up, or zip it and rename it to .mcworld to share it.
