Where Does MonitorControl Store Preferences?

MonitorControl stores prefs in a plist named for its bundle id. Display tweaks live in Settings, advanced ones need the toggle.

Last updated

MonitorControl keeps its preferences in standard macOS user defaults under its bundle identifier. Display specific tuning (polling mode, delays, OSD behavior) sits behind the Show advanced settings toggle in Settings, but persists to the same plist.

The bundle id is the reliable anchor. Preference files are named for it in the user Preferences folder. If a future release renames the domain, the defaults command with the bundle id still finds the live values. Per display values reset when the plist goes, so screenshot custom shortcuts first.

Where MonitorControl stores this, by platform

macOS
/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/app.monitorcontrol.MonitorControl.plist

Preferences keyed by bundle id app.monitorcontrol.MonitorControl. Delete with the app quit to reset. Exact filename may vary by release.
