Where Is the MSFS Community Folder?

MSFS keeps community add-ons in the Community folder with rolling cache beside it. Official packages live in the separate Official folder per install.

Last updated

MSFS splits packages three ways. The Official folder holds base and marketplace content managed by the sim. The Community folder takes third-party aircraft, scenery, and liveries as drop-in packages. Rolling cache and settings sit nearby.

Exact roots may vary by version and storefront, so read the live path from settings rather than guides. Add-on linkers keep one master library with links into Community, which survives reinstalls gracefully. Back up control profiles separately; they vanish most often.

Third-party addons as drop-in packages here. Exact roots may vary by version and storefront; read the live path in settings. Keep a master library outside for rebuilds.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my Community folder?

Open the in-game settings for the packages path or check the UserCfg file for the installed-packages line. Steam and Store builds default to different roots. Point add-on managers at the live path, not a remembered one.

The sim crashes after an update. Why?

Move the Community folder contents out, update, then return addons in batches testing each. Outdated liveries and mods cause most post-update crashes. Keep downloads archived outside so rebuilds take minutes.
