Where Is the NaiveProxy Config File?

NaiveProxy reads its server address and credentials from a config file you place and point it at.

Last updated

NaiveProxy has no fixed config path. You write a JSON or YAML file with the listen address, credentials, and upstream proxy, then point the binary at it on the command line or from your service manager.

Because the path is yours to choose, document it in your deployment notes. The conventional home on a Linux host is under /etc with the other proxy configs. Six months later the file's location is the thing nobody remembers, and the service file is the map.

Where NaiveProxy stores this, by platform

Linux
/etc/naiveproxy/config.json

Conventional location; the actual path is whatever your command line or service unit says. Listen address, credentials, and upstream settings all live here.

Frequently asked questions

How should I manage the config across servers?

Keep the file with your other service configs and reference it from the service unit. Credentials live in that file, so guard it like a password and never commit it.
