Where Does Netmaker Store Data and Config?
Netmaker server keeps its SQLite database and config environment in the deployment folder, usually beside docker-compose files.
Last updated
Netmaker stores state in an embedded SQLite database plus a config environment file in the deployment directory. Docker setups typically keep both next to the compose file, with the database optionally on a named volume.
Back up the whole deployment folder, not just the database: keys, UI settings, and network definitions reference each other. Keep the config env out of public repos since it holds secrets.
Where Netmaker stores this, by platform
/etc/netmaker (or deployment folder data/)
SQLite database plus config env beside compose files. Bind the data path to the host or it dies with the container. Keep secrets in the env file out of git.
Frequently asked questions
How do I migrate a Netmaker server?
Stop the stack, copy the deployment folder including the sqlite database and config env, then bring it up on the new host. Reissue enrollment keys afterwards for hygiene.
Netmaker forgot all networks after restart. Why?
Check the data directory mount in your compose file; an unmounted database vanishes with the container. Bind it to a host folder before creating networks.
