Where Does NewPipe Store Backups?
NewPipe's export database ZIP flow on Android and what newpipe.db actually preserves.
Last updated
NewPipe keeps everything on device with no account, so the export file is your backup. Settings Backup and Restore Export Database writes a ZIP you place yourself through the Android file picker, usually into Downloads or a folder you choose.
Inside the ZIP sit newpipe.db and newpipe.settings. Together they carry subscriptions, playlists, history and app prefs. Import reads the same ZIP back, which is also how people hop between NewPipe installs or forks.
Where NewPipe stores this, by platform
[ChosenFolder]/NewPipeData-[date].zip
You pick the location at export time via Settings > Backup and Restore > Export Database. Live data otherwise sits in private app storage under org.schabi.newpipe, unreachable without root on modern Android.
Frequently asked questions
What does a NewPipe backup include?
Subscriptions, local playlists, watch and search history if enabled, plus all settings. The ZIP contains newpipe.db and newpipe.settings, so keep both files together.
Can I move NewPipe data to another phone?
Yes. Export on the old phone, copy the ZIP to the new one, then Settings > Backup and Restore > Import Database. Export from the official app imports cleanest into the official app.
