Where Does Nine Store Settings and Backups on Android?
Nine keeps mail in private storage, with settings backup and restore from inside the app.
Last updated
Nine holds Exchange and IMAP mail in its private folder, unreachable to file managers. Settings are the portable part: Nine can back them up to a file you keep, then restore on a fresh install.
Mail itself always resyncs from the server after login. Export settings before wiping, and store the file off device. Account passwords may still need retyping on restore, depending on policy.
Where Nine stores this, by platform
Private app storage (mail database)
Synced mail and calendar cache. Copying it directly is not supported. Use Nine settings backup for migration and let mail resync.
User chosen file (Nine settings backup)
Export from Nine settings and save to Downloads or Drive. Restore from the same screen on the new phone before adding accounts by hand.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Nine to a new phone?
Export a settings backup in Nine, copy the file over, install Nine, and restore it. Sign in again where prompted and let each mailbox sync fully.
Does Nine backup include passwords?
Sometimes not, by design or admin policy. Keep credentials in a password manager. The backup still saves servers, signatures, and view preferences.
