Where Does Spike Store Mail and Files on Android?

Spike caches conversations and files in private storage, resynced from the server after reinstall.

Last updated

Spike blends mail and chat, but storage follows the usual mobile pattern. Message cache, downloaded files, and preferences sit in private app storage. Groups, channels, and collaborative notes all resync the same way. The server copy is the real record.

New installs pull everything back after login. Files you opened live in cache until the system reclaims space. Save important attachments to Downloads or Drive instead of trusting cache.

Conversations resync from the account. Downloaded files should be saved out to shared storage. Clearing data forces a full resync.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep Spike files safe?

Download attachments into shared storage or cloud drive from the file view. Cache copies vanish on cleanup. Starred items still need exports for true backup.

Does reinstalling Spike lose mail?

No. Log back in and history returns from the server. Only unsent drafts and unexported files are at risk, so let each workspace finish syncing before wiping the old phone.
