Where Does ObjectBox Store Its Database?
ObjectBox keeps its database in data.mdb plus lock files inside a directory your app chooses. Find that folder and you found everything.
Last updated
ObjectBox is an embedded database, so there is no server directory to memorize. Each app passes a directory when opening its store, and ObjectBox writes data.mdb there with lock sidecars. Same engine on mobile and desktop, different folders per app by construction.
That means every correct answer has the form the app chose. Defaults cluster in app private files directories, but production apps relocate for sync and backup reasons. Search the device or codebase for data.mdb when docs fail. The file is unmistakable once you see it.
Where ObjectBox stores this, by platform
/data/data/[package]/files/objectbox
App private files tree. The exact subfolder comes from the store creation call in code, so search for data.mdb when the default misses. Back up with the app stopped.
App Container/Library/Application Support/objectbox
App container library or documents tree depending on the store call. Pull from simulator builds or device backups, since production phones hide it.
~/.local/share/[AppName]/objectbox
Wherever the desktop app pointed its store call, often beside config under the user home. Server deployments pin this to a volume mount for the same reason.
Frequently asked questions
I inherited an app. How do I find its ObjectBox folder?
Open the project and search for the store creation call. The directory argument there is the only authoritative answer, since every app picks its own. Then look for data.mdb inside it.
How do I back it up safely?
Copy data.mdb with the app fully stopped, and take the lock file info as a hint rather than cargo. A hot copy from a running app restores inconsistently, which shows up as missing recent objects.
