Where Does OctoPrint Store Uploads and Config?

OctoPrint data folder with uploads, timelapses, and config.yaml on OctoPi and manual Linux installs.

Last updated

OctoPrint keeps everything under ~/.octoprint on Linux. OctoPi images use /home/pi/.octoprint for the same folder. Uploaded G-code sits in uploads, finished videos in timelapse, watched folders in watched, and settings in config.yaml.

Plugin data and logs sit beside them. The logs folder explains failed prints, serial errors, and startup problems. Printer profiles and API keys live in config.yaml, so keep that file private. Stop the service before copying the tree for a manual backup or SD clone.

Where OctoPrint stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.octoprint

OctoPi default for the pi user. Uploads holds G-code, timelapse holds rendered MP4s, config.yaml holds printer and API settings. Back up whole folder with service stopped.

Linux
~/.octoprint/config.yaml

Main settings file with printer profiles, serial port, and API key. Edit with OctoPrint stopped to avoid overwrites. Keep a copy off the Pi before major changes.
