Where Does Odin2 Store Presets and Soundbanks?

Odin2 preset, soundbank and config storage on Windows, macOS and Linux per OS.

Last updated

Odin2 keeps user content in one storage root per OS, set in its own source macros rather than following plugin conventions. Config, soundbanks and user patches branch off that root.

Save dialogs default to Documents, which confuses backup attempts. The real store is the path below. Old installs used different roots (/opt on Linux, unprefixed Audio folder on Mac) with a migrator handling the move.

Where Odin2 stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\ProgramData\odin2\Soundbanks\User Patches

Holds odin2.conf, Soundbanks and User Patches. Installer creates the tree. Default patch save dialogs point at Documents instead, which is only an export spot.

macOS
/Library/Audio/Presets/odin2/Soundbanks/User Patches

Same layout as other platforms under the shared Audio Presets root. Old installs used /Library/Audio/odin2 with a migrator to the new path.

Linux
~/.local/share/odin2/Soundbanks/User Patches

Per-user XDG data location. Old installs used /opt/odin2 read only, since deprecated. Default patch saves go to ~/Documents.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Odin2 patches?

Copy the Soundbanks folder for your OS, especially the User Patches subfolder, with the plugin closed. Restoring means putting the folder back before opening the DAW. Keep the conf file too when UI and tuning choices matter.

Why is the install folder nearly empty?

Since version 2.3 the factory content ships inside the binary itself. Only user patches, tuning files and the conf live on disk. An empty-looking install folder is normal.
