Where Does the Odysee Desktop App Store Data?

Odysee desktop data folders for daemon config, wallet and downloads, and which ones to back up.

Last updated

The Odysee desktop app runs on the LBRY protocol, and its data splits three ways. Daemon configuration, logs and hosted blob files live in an lbrynet folder. Wallet and blockchain data live in a separate lbryum folder. Finished downloads go to a directory you pick in Settings, normally Downloads.

The wallet folder is the one that matters most. Lose lbryum without a backup and the associated credits go with it, while blobs and downloads can always regenerate. Do not confuse blob storage with your downloads: blobs seed the network, downloads are your watchable files.

Where Odysee stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\lbry\lbrynet

Older installs from v0.14 and below used %APPDATA% paths instead. Check Settings for the download directory, and treat lbryum as the must back up folder since it holds the wallet.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/LBRY

The lbrynet contents sit inside the LBRY folder on Mac rather than as siblings. Wallet data lives separately in ~/.lbryum. Paste paths through Go to Folder since Library stays hidden.

Linux
~/.local/share/lbry/lbrynet

Wallet headers sit in the lbryum sibling folder. A full blockchain node, if installed separately, keeps its data in ~/.lbrycrd instead.

Frequently asked questions

how do i back up odysee desktop data

Copy the lbrynet folder for settings and hosted data, the lbryum folder for the wallet, and your Downloads folder for finished files. Close the app fully first, since it minimizes to the tray by default.

where are my odysee downloads stored

Check Settings in the app for the configured download directory, normally your system Downloads folder. Streaming still caches pieces to disk, and the Library section lists everything with a trash icon for cleanup.
