Where Is the OpenCore config.plist File?
Where OpenCore keeps config.plist and its support folders on the EFI partition, and how to reach them.
Last updated
OpenCore keeps its config plus kexts, drivers, ACPI tables and tools in one vendor folder on the EFI system partition. The main plist names every driver and patch the boot needs. Support folders beside it hold the binaries it references.
The partition stays unmounted by default, which hides everything from normal browsing. Mount it with the OS appropriate command, then the relative path works everywhere. Keep a known good plist copy before editing since one typo stops the boot. NVRAM choices share the plist file, so one backup covers every boot entry.
Where OpenCore stores this, by platform
/boot/efi/EFI/OC/config.plist
Vendor folder on the EFI partition with the main plist plus kext, driver, ACPI and tool children. Mount the ESP first. Keep a known good copy.
Frequently asked questions
I cannot find the EFI OC folder. Where is it?
Mount the EFI partition first with the tool for your OS, then open the EFI OC path inside it. The partition hides by default everywhere, so no file browser shows it unmounted. Copy the sample plist from the docs as the starting point.
How do I create config.plist from scratch?
Copy the sample plist from the release docs into EFI OC and rename it to config.plist. Edit it with a snapshot tool that keeps kext and driver lists in sync. A bare rename without snapshotting boots nothing.
