Where Does Pan Store Servers and Cache?
The Pan newsreader keeps server settings, downloaded headers, and article cache in a .pan2 folder in your home directory on Linux.
Last updated
Pan stores everything local in ~/.pan2: news server definitions, subscribed groups, per-group read state, downloaded headers and bodies, plus scoring rules. Binaries you save land wherever you set the save path, outside this tree.
Backups are one folder then. Copy .pan2 with Pan closed to move machines or snapshot state. Saved attachments need their own backup since they live in your chosen download directory.

Frequently asked questions
How do I migrate Pan to a new computer?
Copy the whole .pan2 folder to the same path on the new machine. Server passwords may need re-entering, but groups and read state carry over.
How do I clear Pan's article cache?
Delete the article cache inside .pan2 while Pan is closed. Server definitions and scores survive; only downloaded bodies need re-fetching.
