Where Does PDF-XChange Editor Store Settings?
PDF-XChange Editor stores settings in the Windows registry for installed builds. Portable builds and manual backups use exported settings files.
Last updated
For V10 and earlier the user branch is under Tracker Software PDFXEditor. For V11 and later the branch moved under PDF-XChange. Settings stay in memory and are written to the registry on clean exit.
Use File Manage Settings to export or import without editing the registry. Registry comparison of before and after exports is the supported way to isolate a single policy value.

Frequently asked questions
How do I back up settings safely?
Open File, choose Manage Settings, choose Export Settings, select categories, save to a chosen folder. Import with Manage Settings Import Settings on the target PC.
Why did my registry edit have no effect?
The app caches settings in memory. Apply the change, then close all Editor windows so it writes to the registry. Recheck the key after a clean exit.
