Where Does Pegasus Frontend Store Config and Metadata?
Pegasus keeps settings in standard config folders per OS, with game metadata files beside your ROMs.
Last updated
Pegasus separates program config from game data. Settings and themes live in the OS config folder: ~/.config/pegasus-frontend on Linux, AppData Local pegasus-frontend on Windows. Portable mode instead uses a config folder beside the program.
Game lists are yours. metadata.pegasus.txt files sit next to ROMs in each game directory, with artwork in media subfolders. Back up the config folder for themes plus every metadata file for the library itself.
Where Pegasus Frontend stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[You]\AppData\Local\pegasus-frontend
Settings and themes subfolder. Game dirs are set inside the app. metadata.pegasus.txt files beside ROMs hold collections and launch commands.
~/.config/pegasus-frontend
Same role as Windows. Flatpak uses ~/.var/app/org.pegasus_frontend.Pegasus/config/pegasus-frontend. Themes install to the themes subfolder.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my Pegasus game lists?
In metadata.pegasus.txt files inside each ROM folder, not in the config dir. Copy those files with the ROMs. The config folder only holds settings, game dir paths, and themes.
How do I make Pegasus portable?
Launch in portable mode so it reads and writes a config folder beside the program. Move that folder with the binary. Keep ROMs and metadata on the same relative paths.
